The lore

Coven was founded by Sara Steinberg, and features a curated circle of writers and artists.

In October 1998, the first episode of Charmed aired. Magic, witches, San Francisco! A young Sara was enchanted, and even wrote several episodes of fan fiction (available upon request).

When she moved to SF in 2011, Sara got more into the mystic, as well as the wild nature of Northern California. Working in advertising, she started honing her craft and opened Coven in 2026 to put that craft to better use.

We're not classically-trained witches. No lineage or grimoire. We're intuitive feminists who feel most at home in a misty redwood forest. We offer words, intention, and the belief those two things together do something real. Also: This isn't the dark stuff. Nothing here will summon demons, or invite evil in. We're more Stevie Nicks than Satan. Light a candle, cast a spell, mean it. That's it.
